Getting around by Rail

The secret is to know where you are travelling from (Gatwick Airport) and where you want to be (nearest town or village if in the middle of nowhere)

Then you head for where you can plan your journey

Notes on using the National Rail website

A simple site but it only covers places with railway stations so you will need to establish the nearest location with a railway station, plan that part of the route then think about the last leg to your actual destination using bus or taxi etc..

If you use the National Rail web-site it will give you the full details of your journey to the local station. From this you can see the various places where you need to change trains and how best to achieve this. Where a trip across London using the underground is required it offers a download of the London Underground map for you in .pdf format. A useful asset under any circumstances.

You can book your ticket online and often make a saving if booked early enough. It also saves a long wait in the queue at Gatwick railway station.

You might find it sensible to obtain a Rail Card to save money on your ticket(s). Click the link to see if you are eligible

Enjoy your trip.
